Marvel’s Luke Cage: Plot, Villain, and Love Interest Rumors

LC

Hola, geeks! It appears that more rumors have come out of the woodwork about Marvel’s Luke Cage.

Heroic Hollywood is reporting that the Netflix series will feature Luke Cage’s primary antagonist, Willis Stryker a.k.a Diamondback. Diamondback was rumored to have been the main antagonist for the 2004 Luke Cage script that never got to fully see the light of day.

DBACK

For those who don’t really know the story behind Diamondback or his connections to Luke Cage then I can explain it for you. Diamondback and Luke Cage used to be very close friends but that friendship didn’t last very long when they became attracted to the same woman, Reva Connors, who is reportedly the love interest for the upcoming Netflix series. When Diamondback was angry that he did not win Reva’s affections, Diamondback decided to frame Luke Cage for a crime which he did not commit and was sent to prison where he subsequently would gain his powers.

A rumored plot synopsis regarding the show has also been revealed but it could be subject to changes when Marvel decides to officially release the plot synopsis.

SPOILERS BELOW…

“Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.”

The most recent news about Marvel’s Luke Cage is that State of Affairs’ Alfre Woodard was casted as a prominent politician which is rumored to most likely be Marvel villain Black Mariah.

Marvel fans will get to see Luke Cage appear in Marvel’s Jessica Jones before he finally runs off to fight bad guys in his own series.
